Todd, A productivity thought/question combo: Other than future structural plans or safety limitations, would it be more efficient/effective to have a second burn pit farther up or across the job site to reduce travel requirements ? ...even if it was utilized in phases....

I have a 6.4 in my ford f350 flat bed and I have heard so many horror stories about em but not as bad as the 6.0. Once I got it second hand, I noticed that everything was deleted from it like all the emissions and it had a retune on it. What a world of difference! I have a buddy who has the 6.7 and he had issues with it after 80,000 with the emissions then he deleted it, put turbo upgrade on it and had it retuned. Now it’s running fine. I had a diesel mechanic tell me that ford uses the same engine across all there super duty lines and even tho the horsepower is different its the same engine. Just geared differently , my advice would be to look into getting that truck deleted and retuned to stock numbers or maybe even a little bit more power than stock. It seems to me after everyone started to go with this emission crap 💩 diesels lost their reputation. The Cummins bulletproof engine 5.9l, they ruined it with the 6.7 until deleted, the 7.3 again another bulletproof engine, ruined it with the 6.0, 6.4, 6.7 again all of them were perfectly safe and fine unless you delete them. Thats just my opinion though throughout the years of owning them and asking my friends that own em too. Just figured I pass the information along I hate to see that beautiful truck sit. Very cool! 😎
@@Anthony-nr1nd thanks for the info but I sold that truck a long while back

Cat skid steers need a different door setup. I hate them. As for grease, I’m a firm believer that any grease is better then no grease.

I always used Texas red I don’t know how much it is now
@@10rcoleman I’ve never seen that brand
@DigginLife21 maybe that is just what we called it I had 5 coal trucks for years we had the small town truck parts store where everyone knows everyone I would just say that red grease and they would call it texas red on the bill lol so in not sure but it was good stuff
I was doing some digging I haven't had trucks since 18 it was star fire brand I think don't ask me why they called it texas red this is grundy va it's hard telling lol it came I'm a black 5 gallon bucket
My favorite episode, I am just getting my feet wet in the “digging life”…I have a Kubota KX080-4 and a small Kubota 4x4 tractor with a front end loader. My son is 12 and loves running the excavator (I’m not to comfortable with him on the tractor because I worry about it tipping). Seeing you and Emma working together and how well she is doing makes me excited to have him help. Right now we are cleaning up our own properties and building a pond. Your vids have taught me a lot, I really appreciate the tips and instructions. All my equipment is paid for, so I don’t have payments over my head to deal with. I’m about to sell another house and piece of land. I will use that money to buy a used dump truck, trailer and one more piece of equipment before I start taking on jobs for other people. I know there isn’t a perfect answer, but if it was you would you go with a skid steer or a small dozer, to go with the excavator and tractor/loader?
@@bigbusdriver4782 I would say a Skidsteer
I was texting with Sam McNelley at TriStar Diggin yesterday and he asked if I subscribed to your channel. I told him I did. To make sure, I checked and wasn't. I am now. I like how you explain what you're doing plus nothing like starting off a video with a money saving tip 👍.
@@randytedford6108 thanks Randy 👍👍👍
If you think that is cheap price out a bucket its about half the cost of the tubes you bought, combine that with an air greaser and install it at your shop or on your truck

@@DigginLife21 Milwaukee makes a nice battery powered grease gun, similar to the DeWalt people have.
Also, Todd, A mid-weight I-beam about 10ft long sandwiched between two 4x6s with through bolts can turn your excavator into a giant hydraulic grade blade for speeding up finish work. I'll be glad to email a few pictures if you're interested.
Hey man, any way you could do a video on cutting a trail the has to cross a ditch? I’ve had to do this the other day with my 35g and really had a hard time with it. I know you probably don’t have to do that everyday but putting a video out here one of these days would be awesome. Thanks for the great advice in your vids!
@@NMTAF I’ll see what I can do
I think it’s fantastic that you have your daughter helping you. What are you using to communicate with your daughter? I do the same thing with my 12 y/o son. Right now I just call him and we communicate through a Bluetooth headset so I can communicate and teach him. It’s great except when I’m receiving incoming calls.
Great perspective with that cam placement on the grapple bucket and the trackhoe blade. 👍👍

I buy my grease where I buy fuel in bulk they charge by the pound instead of by the tube. It comes out to about 4 per tube its red chevron star lube.

I just picked up a 289d3 like you guys have. My John Deere dropped a valve so it’s going to be down for a minute.

What are doing with the grubbings on this job?
Yes, build a nice bed of coals then add the stumps. I use my mini x to move unburned into the hotspot and keep the big wood in heat. Eventually that big wood will dry out and heat up enough to burn...when you are not looking. It takes time.

Saving nearly 50% per tube when you use a lot of grease is significant.

Hey man Happy 4th of July ! Thanks for sharing . Good idea using the epoxy and air pressure 👍 . Hopefully another one doesn't appear in a different seam . Preco Hydraulic cement works pretty good at stopping active water leaks . Drill a hole and push a straw through while you add the Preco or JB Weld and when it sets up just pinch the straw off to stop the water 💧

Thanks for the tip and the demonstration beginning around 9:50 as to establishing a level (desired) grade on a hillside. As a novice, home owner, operator, I would never have thought of such a technique. I always told the excavator when he worked on my property that you guys/gals are like ice sculptors that can look at a block of ice and carve it such to expose the eagle inside.
